So many news are going on these days every time we turn on our TVs, watch Youtubes, or read newspapers. But one of most surprising thing that just happened about a day ago was the news about “ban of Tik Tok.” Tik Tok, with its 1 billion monthly active users, is one of top five most popular social media platforms where others are Facebook, Whatsapp, Youtube, and Instagram. And MZ generation(s), where M refers to a generation born between 1981 and 1955 whie Z refers to a generation born between 1996 and 2005, is known be the demographic group who is the heavy users of Tik Tok.

I maybe did sign up for Tik Tok once, but I am not really an active user of Tik Tok. I kinda get it why it is too popular, but I maybe now fall under a generation who is too old to catch up with all these hypes. Or, it is maybe just that I am already too much absorbed into Youtube, Instagram these days to dip myself into yet another “cool” social media platform. Some of Tik Tok videos, especially those with dancing challenges, seem to make themselves into Youtube shorts as well. So, yeah, I do hear about Tik Tok either one way or another, though usually after quite sometime later.

What caught me to be curious is to hear about the news that Tik Tok got banned in the United States. Tik Tok seemed to shut down in January 18, 2025, so a lot…
